Here’s the 7 News story from last night about theft from our valued retail shop security client – Fancy on Ferguson in Williamstown. The High Definition CCTV Footage from Oliver Ramsay Security will be critical in bringing this lot to justice.

We are very happy to play a key role in identifying them and hopefully ending their well organised gang.

Elizabeth, the owner of the “Fancy”, called us to help with finding and viewing the footage to provide to Police. The local Police were a little sceptical, saying that video footage was typically fuzzy and it makes it very hard to identify the thieves.

Oliver Ramsay Security support staff were able to assist and quickly found the correct timing and camera views.

Both Elizabeth and the Police were delighted with the clarity and detail of the Video and the ability to zoom in and extract clear still shots of the three thieves.

There’s a little more to the story however. Whilst Elizabeth was very angry about the theft, the footage showed some opportunities for improvement in a number of areas:

  • Staff Awareness of Customer Activity
  • Staff Engagement of Customers
  • Shop Layout
  • Staff Visibility of some areas of the shop

A number of benefits have emerged as a result:

  • Clear pictures have been shared with Police and Traders in Williamstown
  • The Staff Training and Feedback has led to:
    • Greater Customer Engagement
    • No Further Theft
    • Increased Sales.

We asked Elizabeth for her feedback:

“I was really annoyed when I realised that the theft had taken place and I asked Oliver Ramsay Security to help. They were able to find the video very quickly and we could see the whole thing very clearly. It also showed us that we had some gaps in our approach which we have attended to, and we are now a better business as a result. Thanks to Oliver Ramsay for their great service and advice.”

If there was ever a case for a Quality Security System in a Retail Shop, this is clearly it!
