Since 2003, Saizeriya Australia, a large scale manufacturer and exporter of high quality pasta sauces, soups and meat products, have been operating from their flagship site in Melton, Victoria.

Saizeriya Australia supply more than nine-hundred restaurants and cafes in Japan. In late 2016, Saizeriya approached Oliver-Ramsay Security with the challenge of commissioning in excess of sixty CCTV cameras throughout their site and within manufacturing plant.

Working with the teams from Central Security Distribution, Hikvision Australia and Le-Mans Electrical, Oliver-Ramsay Security designed a CCTV security system that well and truly exceeded the expectations and requirements of Saizeriya’s management and staff. Comprising more than thirty turret cameras to the inside of the manufacturing plant and administration building, thirty darkfighter bullet cameras (including one long range darkfighter) to the exterior of the building and four 32 channel Hikvision DS-9600 series Network Video Recorders, all running through a powerful dedicated HP server via optical fibre cabling.

Saizeriya’s requirements for a high quality CCTV system came as they sought to capture all day to day activities throughout the site to help maintain highest quality food manufacturing procedures and ensure that their high safety standards were being adhered to at all times.

The nature of Saizeriya’s business, their operations and the sheer size of the site made for some challenging times throughout the commissioning of the CCTV system. Round the clock food manufacturing meant that the Oliver-Ramsay Security installation team were unable to work within the factory from Monday to Friday. Large amounts of pre-planning and preparation work were required so that when access to the factory was available the team were able to have cameras located, installed and programmed as quickly as possible.

A high roof space throughout the buildings meant that almost all of the cable and camera installation process was carried out from scissor lifts, boom lifts and extension ladders. Adding to this, a requirement of Saizeriya’s food handling was that all holes drilled within the factory walls had to be sealed with food grade sealant and fixed with specialist locking nuts.

Running optical fibre cable presented one of the largest hurdles for the Oliver-Ramsay team to overcome. Specialist equipment was hired for running cable underground and a huge amount of care was taken to ensure no damage was caused to the cable during the installation process.

The final step in the commissioning of the project came in the form of installing a wireless camera link to the employee car park at the rear of the site. Using a Cambium Wireless link and high speed Ethernet switch made simple work of connecting the cameras to the rear of the site to the localised network.

Saizeriya Australia asked for a cost effective, yet high quality CCTV system that they could just keep adding to as required. The use of Hikvision’s high quality products, their own high quality intstallation standards, using less than half of the systems current capabilities and all at an affordable price, Oliver-Ramsay Security delivered an above expectation package and they look forward to working with Saizeriya on further expanding their CCTV system.
